Billington Team Achieves Success in RISQS Audit Certification
We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully completed the Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS). This comprehensive full-day examination rigorously assessed our safety management system, including our processes, policies, procedures, and licences as well as interviewing our team in relation to current practices. The purpose of this accreditation is to demonstrate that we have a cohesive plan in place to safeguard our people on site near or on the railway – at depots, and stations, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Our safety management system has been proven safe for our project teams working rail side. Importantly, the same stringent audits apply to our supply chain, ensuring that we hold ourselves to the same high standards as rail-industry-specific organisations. We are fully compliant, equipped with a streamlined procurement process, and have robust risk mitigation procedures. With our RISQs standards extending to our supply chain, this emphasises our dedication to the safety and well-being of both our team and our supply partners.
The success of this audit is a result of company-wide support for prioritising health and safety. We invested resources and time to ensure a successful outcome. Furthermore, our achievement means that our team can manage design and construction, under Network Rail guidance and guidelines.
Well done to all at Billington Structures who dedicated time to secure this accreditation.

What is the RISQS rail safety accreditation?
The Rail Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) is the certification authority for the Great British Rail Industry. It supports both buyers and suppliers. It aids Network Rail and Transport for London (TFL) in managing supply chain risk. A cross-industry committee owns, governs, and sponsors RISQS. It operates under the RSSB Board’s oversight. RSSB provides a range of services to support the scheme. This includes developing essential rail standards, mandatory for all in the industry.
Why should suppliers have a RISQS accreditation?
RISQS is the rail industry’s top tool for assurance and supply chain risk management. It boosts the confidence of over 90 buyer members. They trust in doing business with a network of 4,000 supplier members. Registering with RISQS or achieving certification shows you comply with industry standards. It places you on the fast track to approved supplier lists.
The value to us as an accredited organisation
As a RISQS-accredited entity, and with Billington Structures gaining visibility as a preferred supplier, this frees up time and resources for our business to concentrate on expert application and efficiency of our projects from start to finish.
