Billington’s 2025 Summer Festival

This year’s Annual Summer Festival was held at our production premises in Yate, Bristol on 19th July and Wombwell, Barnsley on 25th July 2025. Our Wombwell event hosted Billington Structures, Easi-Edge, Hoard-it, Brand-it, Shafton Steel Services, Tubecon, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs and Specialist Protective Coatings. As it has become an annual tradition, both events included a delicious hog roast!

We were fortunate that the weather at both events was sunny, but not too hot and it couldn’t have been better. Many members of staff showed up to support the events and make them a great success. Once again, for the third year in a row, this year’s events were organised to support Cancer Research UK. A number of our staff have a personal connection to the charity and they felt strongly about supporting Cancer Research UK, given all of the important work that the charity does, in terms of both education and research, which help to save lives.

Mark Smith, Billington Holdings Plc CEO, said at the event “It’s brilliant to see so many familiar faces here today, and to have the opportunity to celebrate what has been a genuinely impressive year for our Group. This past year tested us, but we didn’t just hold steady; we moved forwards. From Wombwell to Shafton, Leeds to Bristol, the hard work, collaboration and creativity from every team have been inspiring.”

A week later, the second event was held for the rest of the Group. It was held at our offices in Wombwell, Barnsley and the event featured a local band called Laketown who were very popular with the audience. We also had a number of attractions including an ice cream van, bouncy castle, rodeo bull dog, and a high striker. There was also a photobooth which was busy all day with staff. The company directors were working on the bar at both events and beers were available from two local breweries – Acorn Brewery and Yorkshire Craft Beer.

Trevor Taylor, Billington Holdings Plc CFO, highlighted his favourite part of the event, “What I really enjoy about the summer events is that everyone has a chance to unwind, reconnect and enjoy what’s turning out to be a cracking day. Our culture of teamwork, ambition and care for one another is what makes the Billington group special. So today, I encourage you to chat with someone new, enjoy the sunshine, and maybe try your luck with the raffle.”

As part of the raffle this year there were a number of fantastic prizes including hampers, tablets, watches, shopping vouchers, a weekend away in Newcastle, and some golf vouchers. This year, Billington is delighted to announce that the total amount raised was £2,956 which will be donated to Cancer Research UK. The Billington Holdings Charity Foundation remains committed to making a positive difference to employees and the local communities in which the Group companies operate.

Kevin Campbell, Billington Structures Ltd COO, said about the event, It’s always a pleasure to take a step away from our day-to-day work, enjoy some sunshine, and reflect on what we’ve achieved together. I want to thank every one of you for your hard work, commitment and resilience over the past year.”

We would like to thank everyone who helped to organise the summer events and those who donated prizes and their time to making them another wonderful day out for staff and their families.
