True to tradition, Billington Holdings Charity Foundation hosted their much-anticipated 5th Annual Summer Festival with a Hog Roast at our production premises in Yate, Bristol (19 July 2024) and Wombwell, Barnsley (26 July 2024). Our Wombwell event hosted Billington Structures, Easi-Edge, Hoard-it, Brand-it, Shafton Steel Services, Tubecon, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs and Specialist Protective Coatings.
The weather held up at both of our events and the food was pigging-fantastic! We are delighted that our summer event was an absolute success. The event was organised to support Cancer Research UK, an organisation that holds a special place in the hearts of our staff for its invaluable contribution to saving lives through research, influence and education, and was voted charity of the year by staff – for the 2nd year running.
Mark Smith, Billington Holdings Plc CEO, highlighted the spirit of the occasion, saying, “Our Summer get-together is all about celebrating our successes, reflecting on our achievements and looking to the future. We are delighted to hold this event for our valued team and for everyone making us the exceptional group of companies that we are.”
The celebrations began at Yate, where the staff came together to raise money and enjoy the day. The weather was perfect, the sun shone all day, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and the smell of a hog roast filled the air.
The week after our event in Yate, we held our second event with the wider Group. It took place at the head office in Barnsley and was just as lively. The event featured a range of attractions including rides for children, an ice cream van and a live performance from talented local band Undergroove Duo. Once again the weather was kind, providing the perfect day for our team to get together and enjoy drinks and food.
Trevor Taylor, Billington Holdings Plc CFO, emphasised the importance of the event in creating a positive environment, “The event is a perfect example of our commitment to a positive and inclusive working environment. It’s an opportunity for us to unwind, relax and socialise with colleagues and their families.”
To help raise as much money as possible, our staff and their families bought plenty of raffle tickets, thanks to the support of our valued supply partners for their donations.
Billington is delighted to announce that the total amount raised at both events is a record-breaking £4,500! This substantial donation will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the fight against cancer.
Reflecting on the year’s achievements, Kevin Campbell, Billington Structures Ltd COO, remarked, “We have reached important milestones and continued to innovate in ways that set us apart from our competitors.”
Billington extends its gratitude to everyone who contributed prizes, pledged donations, and joined in the celebrations to make our summer festival a success.
The Billington Holdings Charity Foundation is committed to making a positive difference to employees and the local communities in which the Group companies operate.
