Reducing carbon is one of the most important challenges facing our industry, and one we are actively addressing.
We are a carbon-neutral business and are progressing towards our emissions reduction targets, with a clear plan to further reduce emissions across our operations and supply chain.
Aligned with Science-Based Targets
We are committed to reducing our carbon emissions by at least 50% by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement.
Our immediate focus is on emissions we directly control (Scope 1 and 2), while working closely with our supply chain to address wider impacts.
As a member of #SteelZero, we are also helping drive demand for net zero steel — targeting 50% by 2030 and 100% by 2050.
Direct emissions from sources we own or control: heating, process energy, and fuel used in company-owned vehicles and plant.
From 557t in 2024Emissions from purchased electricity. Since May 2023, all electricity is REGO-accredited 100% renewable with a 0% emissions factor.

We have already made strong progress towards our 2030 targets in several areas and continue to explore additional reduction opportunities on our journey to net zero by 2050.
Scope 1 & 2 Actions
We are constantly making changes to reduce our direct emissions. Below are the headline results from our 2025 Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting disclosure, our first year of publicly reporting against TCFD requirements.
Scope 1: 529t (gas 303t + transport 226t). Scope 2 location-based: 482t.
Down from 1,183t in 2024Net CO₂e after offsetting 529t via Carbon Neutral Britain’s Woodland Fund. We remain carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Energy Efficiency
We’ve upgraded lighting across our facilities to low-energy LED systems, reducing electricity consumption and emissions.
Renewable Electricity
Since May 2023, all electricity is sourced from 100% renewable providers, significantly lowering our Scope 2 footprint.
Power Efficiency
New HV transformer system saving c.200,000 kWh per year, reducing overall energy demand and improving operational efficiency.
Lower-Carbon Fuels
We are transitioning plant and machinery to HVO fuel as a lower-emission alternative to diesel.
Future Energy
We are exploring on-site renewable energy generation and alternative heating solutions to further reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Supply Chain Engagement
Through #SteelZero and supplier partnerships, we are driving the adoption of lower-carbon steel and materials.
Our Carbon Neutral Promise
While we continue to reduce emissions, offsetting allows us to take immediate action.
We offset all Scope 1 and 2 emissions annually through verified schemes, maintaining our carbon-neutral status.
Our projects support:
- UK tree planting and forest creation
- Marine ecosystem restoration
- Rewilding and biodiversity initiatives
These programmes not only capture carbon but also deliver wider environmental benefits.
