The Exhibition Centre Liverpool (ECL) is a new state-of-the-art exhibition and events complex built on the landmark Liverpool waterfront at Kings Dock.
As part of The ACC Liverpool Group, the 8,100m2 exhibition centre also includes a 216-bed four-star hotel. It is scheduled to open at the beginning of September with an extensive programme of exhibitions, conferences, and concerts with a 10,000 people capacity.
Construction started in February 2014 and Billington Structures were responsible for fabricating and installing over 1,860 tonnes of hot rolled steel including 21 No. 45 Metre roof trusses, 85 tonnes of main transfer truss, and 41 tonnes of cold rolled roof purlins. We also painted multi environment intumescent paint systems, primers and galvanising, and supplied and fitted the metal decking.
With the inclusion of the 30 tonne steel link bridge adjoining the ECL to the BT Convention Centre and Echo arena, it is Europe’s only purpose-built, interconnected Arena, Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre.
