As part of Doncaster Gateway, a new £32m regeneration development, we supplied the structural steelwork for a new 5 storey building.
Gateway One is a new £32m development in Doncaster which will be the focus of a new digital tech hub. The 52,000 square foot five storey office building on Trafford Way, which is adjacent to Doncaster train station, will also include a public area and commercial units on the ground floor for alfresco dining.
The project has been funded through the Doncaster Town Deal fund, and has been overseen by the Town Deal Board, a sub-group which builds on the city’s ambitions to create a digital and technical cluster that is of national significance. The cutting edge and sustainable hub will enable technology businesses to thrive and grow in the city. The Gateway One building aims to be net zero carbon in operation, as well as achieve an EPC rating of A and BREEAM Excellent rating.
Willmott Dixon is the main contractor on the project and through the Building Lives Academy, the goal is to deliver more than 650 hours of employment support for local people, especially focused on those at risk of redundancy and those looking to transition into the construction industry.
This high quality development is expected to kickstart the regeneration of the Station Gateway area of the city and set a standard for further investment in Doncaster. Gateway One will bring new and interesting technology focused jobs to the city, increase footfall and put technology at the forefront of the economy.
Billington Structures were asked by Willmott Dixon to supply the structural steelwork for the building. In addition to beam and column steelwork for the 5 storeys building, we supplied lifting deck packs, dry place PCC stairs and lift shafts, as well as edge protection barriers for the site during construction.
Gateway One will focus on digital technology with global AI firm Automatic Analytics among the founding firms set to take up residence when the project is completed in 2027.
