New Bailey

Salford

New Bailey is a £650m Salford regeneration project serving as a new gateway to the city centre. This building is just the latest in a significant regeneration programme in Salford. It represents wide investment in Manchester to support long-term, sustainable economic prosperity and employment.

Billington Structures received instruction for the steel frame on a Design and Build (D&B) basis for Plot B7 New Bailey, a uniquely designed 175,000 square foot 11-storey office in Salford.

Working with Make Architects and Bowmer & Kirkland, we provided a structural steel solution for a unique design with an external lattice frame, unlike other developments in the city.

The steel frame, partially restrained by an RC core and featuring long-span Plate Girders (PG’s), an external diagrid steel frame, and composite metal deck floors, met the client’s specifications for a visually connected entrance, a river-view roof terrace, a distinctive City identity, and a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
