Panattoni Park

BRISTOL

Panattoni Park in Avonmouth is the largest speculative warehouse ever built in the UK. Two warehouses will be built on a 41 hectare site of the old Avlon Works, which have been vacant for some time.

The £280 million development is being built in one phase with ISG appointed as the main contractor. The planned development offers two warehouses of 407,367 and 884,219 square feet, making the latter, the the biggest speculative warehouse in the country. Together, Panattoni Park total 1.3 million square feet of space. Both units will have a BREEAM Excellent and EPC A rating.

Billington Structures are delighted to be part of such a sustainable development which is including a number of sustainability features, including a roof-mounted solar array and electric vehicle charging points. Other features included high standards of insulation, water savings facilities, rainwater harvesting and an increase in rooflights for high levels of natural daylight. This will reduce the need for artificial lighting throughout the site.

Panattoni Park is strategically positioned for local and national distribution, with quick access to motorways, airports, Avonmouth Docks and Royal Portbury Docks. It is also close to large national logistics companies which include Amazon and DHL. This development reflects the UK’s continued growth in the logistics sector, as well as a commitment to international clients who require large amounts of space.

The two huge warehouses will enable businesses to stock up on larger quantities of goods, reducing the risk of them running out of stock during peak times. The spaces will also allow businesses to implement advanced technology, such as automated systems, to improve efficiency.

As part of Panattoni Park, ISG required several car parks with a planned 1,120 spaces. The site is less than one kilometre from the train station and with the potential to create over 1,500 jobs, the large car parks were a necessary part of the project.

On behalf of ISG, Billington Structures is responsible for the design and build of one single storey car park, and one 2 storey car park. Inclusive of all steel frames, steel cores, metal deck, crash barriers, handrails and mesh infills for the buildings.

Kevin Campbell, Managing Director at Billington Structures said: “Billington Structures are delighted to be involved with such a significant development within Avonmouth.

“The completion of this car park is a major step towards the whole investment, and a prominent economic expansion for the region.”
