St George’s Park

Billington Structures has provided in the region of 3,000 tonnes of steel to this prestigious new National Football Centre.

St. George’s Park, as it will be more commonly known, will provide a training and development centre, as well as becoming the training home for all English teams. Billington are proud to have been responsible for the design, fabrication and erection of this structural landmark.

Three large steel framed structures have been erected which will form the indoor sports areas. The steel erection was a complex procedure as the design comprised 80m wide spans of large column free space. A series of large 4.5m deep trusses have been erected. The roof of the indoor pitch, supported by the trusses, has been constructed from a PVC material which is held in place by more than 10,000 brackets, welded to the truss sections by Billington Structures. One of the most striking features of the project is the entrance steelwork which comprised a tubular structure with stainless steel bracing rods.
