Billington Structures have provided the structural steelwork for the new Aldi Distribution Centre in Neston as part of their expansion in the north-west. DSP Construction were the main contractor for this project. This distribution centre and the regional office at Neston forms one of four constructed for Aldi, situated on 36 acres of land.
The new 36,000 square feet freezer extension will be built to cope with its continued expansion, which will see the overall site boosted to approximately 440,000 square feet. The new extension consists of a thermally separated warehouse for the storage of chilled and frozen items. The scheme features high-quality sustainable design and will create new job opportunities for the region.
The management and administration staff is accommodated in the fully air-conditioned office wing that have openable windows to permit natural ventilation. Additional staff facilities are also included within the warehouse.
Aldi operates eight distribution hubs across the UK. The Neston base covers Cheshire, Liverpool, western coastal areas and North Wales.
