On Thursday 1st March 2018, Billington Structures attended the Made in Yorkshire Awards at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. With the ‘Beast from the East’ wreaking havoc and significant travel disruptions across the country, we were unsure if the event would be taking place. But, with good old Yorkshire spirit and plenty of grit (both literal and metaphorical), a bit of snow didn’t stop us.
And so it was that we braved the elements and made it to Leeds – and we were jolly glad we did! On the night, we were delighted to receive the award for Manufacturing Apprenticeship/Training Scheme. Darren Kemplay, Company Secretary, was on hand to collect the award with our Purchasing Manager, Gary Beever.
In Darren’s previous role as HR Manager, he played a significant role in the implementation and management of the Apprenticeships Schemes, especially the BCSA CRAFT Structural Steelwork Fabricator Welder Certificate, for which Billington apprentice, Alex Shaw, was the first ever to achieve the award back in 2015.
Billington remain committed to providing opportunities to the local community, and we are very honoured to have been recognised for our efforts.
Thank you to all our apprentices: past and present and future!
