Billington Structures is delighted to have starred in the Phase 2 development of Pinewood Studios.
Pinewood Studios is well-known for the James Bond and Carry On film franchises. Within its existing buildings at Pinewood, recent films have included Solo: A Star Wars Story and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It’s UK studios are located just 8 miles from Heathrow airport and 20 miles from Central London.
As part of three phases, Pinewood’s £200m plan is set to make it the biggest studio in the UK with 12 new stages in total. With main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine, the project has undertaken a major expansion of set facilities in Buckinghamshire. This includes 4 large buildings for film production, high-level walkways, and runway beams.
Billington Structures has supplied, fabricated and erected over 2,000 tonnes of steelwork including off-site applied fire protection. Work included large, complex roof trusses and steel stairs (supplied by Peter Marshall Steel Stairs).
Billington Structures started working on-site in December 2018 and expects to be completed in the spring of 2019. Completion of the final development is due in 2020.
