Magna Park

LUTTERWORTH

TSL Ltd have been hired as the main construction company for a new project in Magna Park South, Lutterworth, Leicestershire. This huge development project will boast the largest speculative logistics building in the UK.

The worldwide pandemic brought into sharp focus how the UK’s supply chain and the logistics industry was essential for retailers to stock essential goods. It was put under enormous pressure and, as a result, there has been an increase in the demand for high quality warehousing with good transport links.

The new project at Magna Park will include four logistics and distribution units totalling 1.2 million square feet. This is part of a new 131 acre extension to the existing Magna Park development.

Billington Structures supplied, fabricated and erected 5,200 tonnes of structural steel including metal decking. The project included 4 multi-span portal units and the installation of long span portal rafters, integrated office structures and high quality paint finishing along with cold rolled purlins and rails.

TSL identified a number of small changes that could be made to this project to reduce emissions during the construction phase. The result was a reduction of 4.9% in operational emissions. In addition to the construction activities, significant groundworks and landscaping was carried out to create an environment that has natural habitats for wildlife. The owners of Magna Park are proud to demonstrate that business and nature can thrive alongside one another.

The development at Magna Park includes an ultra modern design of the primary offices. The innovations include a new feature reception, the use of natural materials and finishes, acoustic panels and exposed services in the office space, as well as an open plan kitchen and recreational area. Other features include a wide arrange of energy saving features, including solar panels to reduce energy requirements, rainwater harvesting and technology to optimise the use of natural light.
