WATFORD, LONDON

TJX (owners of TK Maxx and other companies in the UK) has been given planning permission by Watford Borough Council for the construction of a new 12-storey office building with a high-level footbridge and a basement car park directly opposite Watford Junction Station. The new office space, will host the new European headquarters of TJX Europe, the operator of the TK Maxx and Homesense retail chains.

TJX will have three buildings, creating the new TJX Europe Watford office campus. The buildings have been designed to be modern, inclusive, and collaborative spaces. They are full of features intended to support staff such as flexible working spaces, connected learning facilities, catering, outdoor spaces and a health club.

As part of the TJX headquarters, two of the buildings are being connected by a new bridge over Clarendon Road. Billington Structures was responsible for the structural steel frame for the office development, and the new bridge running between the buildings. To ensure the safety of the public and working in the live environment, Clarendon Road was closed near Station Road to allow the bridge to be fitted.

The overall development is to provide a gateway to the town and the aim of TJX Europe, owners of TK Maxx is to create jobs for 3,000 by 2031.
